Dr. Toon, speaking for district staff, described a planned parent engagement event intended to gather parent input for the district’s strategic plan. The event was scheduled as a combined exhibit hall and keynote session with precinct breakout discussions; staff will email registration links to parents and post the flyer on district social media. Key elements: an exhibit hall beginning at 5:30 p.m., a keynote address by Brooke Romney, brief board member introductions, and precinct breakout discussions beginning about 7:00 p.m.
Toon said staff have collected draft focus areas from prior community, student leader and administrative sessions and will refine them before sharing with parents; breakout group composition will be adjusted based on registration counts. He said registration will close the day before (the 19th) and the form will ask registrants for a precinct or school to help assign breakout groups. Board members asked for regular registration updates and requested a precinct breakdown so they could plan appropriate breakout formats. President Gerard and Superintendent Linford said the format may need to adapt if turnout is unexpectedly large or small.
Several board members expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to gather early parent input on the strategic plan and encouraged promotion of the event; no board vote was required, and staff will return with workshop materials and a finalized plan for breakout structure.
