An unidentified host encouraged residents to visit the South Jordan Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings and introduced Matt Hargraves, who sells produce for McMullen Orchards.
"My name is Matt Hargraves, and we get to sell for McMullen Orchards, which is my wife's family's farm," Hargraves said. "They've been around for almost 100 years, based out of Payson, Utah." He said the stand specializes in peaches and apples and offered specific varieties on hand, including the Diamond Princess peach and what he called a novelty "donut peach." Hargraves also said the region’s warm days and cool nights help "set the sugars in fruit," contributing to the sweetness of the produce.
The host noted that the market is a local amenity and urged residents to attend. "South Jordan Farmer's Market every Saturday through October," the host said, inviting the community to come see the produce lineup.
Hargraves added that the farm will also offer pitted frozen tart cherries suitable for pies or smoothies. He said additional varieties will be available as the season progresses.
The market invitation concluded with a reminder to residents to visit the vendor row and check the schedule for weekly hours. No formal votes or actions were recorded in the transcript of this event.
