Lieutenant Ashley Lee of the Domestic Violence Unit said the unit normally handles about 14,000 cases a year and has worked 11,167 cases so far this year, with an average caseload of 67 cases per detective. "Operation Safe Families not only arrested 539 suspects," Lee said, "we will cover the arrest history of the most violent arrest." Lee described arrests that include strangulation counts, repeated violations of protective orders, impersonating a public servant and multiple probation violations.
