Herriman warns drivers: Rosecrest and Porter Rockwell work may cause temporary closures and detours

The host said traffic control using cones has forced some drivers into single travel lanes and temporary turn-lane closures on Rosecrest between Main Street and 130 Fourth, creating backups. "When people ignore those and insist on taking a left turn when it's not allowed, that causes a massive backup," the host said, urging drivers to follow posted detours.
The hosts explained a key scheduling constraint: mill-and-overlay work requires specialized milling machines, which the host said are limited in number ("there are, like, 4 of them in the entire state") and are owned by contractors. That scarcity, the hosts said, contributes to scheduling work at times that may be inconvenient for some drivers.
On Porter Rockwell Boulevard the city said crews were pouring concrete for a pedestrian bridge as part of the Mountain View project; closures would be staggered to maintain a safe work zone while concrete was poured above the roadway.
Officials said the Rosecrest work could be finished by the end of the weekend but might extend into Saturday and encouraged drivers to use alternate routes while crews complete the mill-and-overlay.
The hosts also described earlier paving challenges this year when extreme heat kept pavement from cooling quickly, extending closures. No new completion date beyond the weekend estimate was provided.
