Roosevelt — City staff urged residents to submit public comments during the environmental compliance review for a proposed gun range, noting the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) comment period closes July 30.
At the council meeting staff said the city needs “as many positive public comments as we possibly can get” for the environmental review and related grant application. The city manager and staff (Eric Major referenced) said they will post the survey and supporting materials online so residents can comment before the deadline.
A councilmember asked whether this is the NEPA comment period; another confirmed it is an environmental compliance period. The council asked staff to circulate the material to councilmembers, encourage public participation, and post the survey on the city website.
The NEPA comment period is an administrative step in federal environmental review. The council did not take formal action other than asking staff to post and promote the comment period and to collect council input.
