Dallas Arts Office Marks International Dance Day with Live Performances and Program Announcements

The City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture held a celebration in the City Hall lobby in honor of International Dance Day, featuring student and community dance performances and remarks by city arts officials and elected leaders. Organizers described the event as the Office's second inaugural International Dance Day celebration and invited the public to stay for an hour of performances, community engagement and information about city arts programs.
The event opened with a tribute choreographed by Professor Michelle Gibson and performed by students from Southern Methodist University. "I am so thrilled to welcome you here...in celebration of International Dance Day," said Martine Elise Philippe, speaking on behalf of the Office of Arts and Culture, who introduced the performance and thanked the city manager's office for allowing the City Hall lobby to be used as a performance space.
