John LaFolle, Herriman’s communications manager, said the city is continuing the parking fee and permit approach at Black Ridge Reservoir that was used last year to manage overcrowding. "Overcrowding is the root issue there," LaFolle said.
LaFolle said the weekend and holiday parking fee began May 1 and will run through Sept. 7, and described a resident permit program intended to limit street parking by non-resident visitors. He said residents who need guest permits for a family event can apply for those permits at no cost through the city's web page.
Mayor Palmer said the city raised parking fines in the area to reduce impacts on neighbors. The podcast did not provide the exact fine amounts; those figures are not specified and should be checked at herriman.gov/blackridgereservoir.
LaFolle directed listeners to the city's Black Ridge Reservoir web page for information on permits, fees and enforcement. He also reminded residents not to park on neighborhood streets without a resident permit when visitors are using the reservoir.
