The Mariposa County Planning Commission on Jan. 9 adopted its calendar of regularly scheduled meetings for 2026 and elected leadership for the coming year.
Chair Art Baggett called the meeting to order and, after a brief technical recess to resolve audio issues, the commission reviewed the proposed schedule. Staff flagged quorum conflicts for some early dates, notably Feb. 6 and Jan. 23; staff also noted one applicant for a conditional-use-permit amendment had been scheduled for Feb. 6 and would need the Feb. 20 meeting if the Feb. 6 session lacked a quorum. Commission members agreed the secretary would cancel individual meetings as conflicts arose.
The commission moved to adopt the calendar as amended; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Sofia (staff) nominated Art Baggett as chair for 2026 and Warren Gray as vice chair; both accepted and the commission approved the nominations unanimously.
Other procedural actions included tabling an agriculture-advisory-committee appointment until a vacancy is filled and forming small ad hoc committees to help shepherd the general plan update and the development-code revisions to the full commission.
The commission ended the procedural portion of the meeting having set a meeting cadence for the year and designated who will lead its work; staff will circulate cancellations or adjustments as needed.
