Marissa Manzione sworn in as Tooele City mayor; Dave McCall and John Gossett sworn into council

Marissa Manzione was sworn in as mayor of Tooele City during a public swearing-in ceremony, where two new or returning city council members also took the oath of office.

The ceremony began with an official administering the oath. Marissa Manzione repeated the pledges to "support, obey, and defend" the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Utah and pledged to "discharge the duties of my office with fidelity." Afterward, Manzione thanked residents and staff for their support and framed her approach as collaborative, saying, "This is not a me thing. This is a we thing." She also praised outgoing Mayor Wynn for bringing "a wealth of knowledge" and said she appreciated Wynn remaining available to answer questions as she transitions into the role.

Dave McCall was next to take the oath and later used his remarks to highlight recent local growth. McCall said the city has reached milestones that will attract new businesses, telling attendees, "in 2025, we totally got the rooftops," and saying that growth brings both opportunity and the responsibility to preserve elements of the community residents value, such as public safety and the city's small‑town character.

John Gossett also repeated the oath to support and defend the constitutions and pledged to perform his duties with fidelity. He offered brief thanks at the close of his remarks.

At the ceremony's conclusion, officials recognized other council members in attendance — Melody Gochis, Justin Bridal and Ed Hansen — and thanked department heads, staff and the public for attending. The event closed after brief acknowledgments and applause.

The swearing-in marks the formal start of the new term for the mayor and councilmembers; no votes or formal policy actions were taken during the ceremony.
