Deputy Chief William Griffith of the Dallas Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Group briefed reporters on July 27, 2025, saying that at approximately 2:15 a.m. officers working in a uniformed off-duty capacity responded to a report of a gunshot in the 10700 block of Fennell Street. Griffith said 23-year-old Brian Cruz Campos was involved in a fight in a parking lot and fired a handgun, grazing another man’s face.
