The Herriman City Council on May 28 approved Resolution R30-2025 authorizing the acceptance of $57,000 from Salt Lake County corridor-preservation funds to reimburse the city for a previously acquired transportation right-of-way near 138 South and Sentinel Ridge Boulevard.
City staff explained the payment stems from a prior reimbursement agreement and a corridor-preservation allocation that was appraised in 2020. An initial presentation said the funding will replenish capital-project funds the city previously expended to reimburse a developer for the right-of-way acquisition.
Councilmember Sherry moved to approve the resolution; Councilmember Tara seconded. Recorded votes in the council chamber were: Teddy — yes; Sherry — yes; Tara — yes; Mayor — yes. The motion carried.
Council members asked about apparent appraisal and price differences on recent purchases; staff responded that corridor-preservation funds pay based on the appraisal at the time the county approved corridor preservation (2020 appraisal in this case) and acknowledged market fluctuations in per-acre costs.
No amendments were made to the interlocal agreement; staff recommended approval and the council voted to accept the funds.
