Herriman warns residents of weekend freeway and sewer closures, detours and spring-break traffic impacts

John LaFollette said the Jordan Basin Improvement District and UDOT projects will compound local traffic. He said the Bangerter 134 overpass at the South Jordan–Riverton border will be fully closed for a weekend, creating backups on 100 and 1800 South and prompting use of Old Liberty Way as a detour. "They will close 118 completely, for a couple days, Saturday through Sunday," LaFollette said, noting closures might finish earlier but advising drivers to plan for full closures and detours.
LaFollette linked timing to Jordan School District spring break and warned of additional restrictions the following week at an intersection with Old Liberty Way. Shields said the southbound right-turn at Bangerter should be possible in early May and that the larger interchange construction will occur in the fall; he added sewer-project completion will allow acceleration of interchange work.
Officials encouraged drivers to plan extra time and exercise patience during the coming months of construction-related disruptions. No new city actions were reported; the discussion was informational and advisory.
