Dallas chosen as International Broadcast Center for FIFA World Cup 2026

Amy Hopfinger, FIFA’s chief business and strategy officer, announced at a Dallas press conference that the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will serve as the International Broadcast Center (IBC) for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"Dallas and the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center will serve as the international broadcast center for the FIFA World Cup 2026," Hopfinger said, describing the IBC as a global hub that will support television, radio and new media operations for all 104 tournament matches across 16 host cities.
The IBC is planned to operate from January through August 2026 and, Hopfinger said, will house roughly 2,000 broadcast media representatives in a 485,000-square-foot facility that will offer services including a 24-hour cafeteria, express shipping, banking and dry cleaning to support a seven-month media presence.
Mayor Eric Johnson called the designation a "historic announcement" for Dallas and said the city will make strategic investments to prepare the convention center. "The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center is gonna serve as the nucleus of the media operations," Johnson said, adding that Dallas will host nine matches, including a semifinal, which he said will bring international visibility and economic benefit.
Monica Paul, executive director of the Dallas Sports Commission and president of the North Texas FIFA World Cup organizing committee, thanked FIFA, city staff and partners and introduced the FIFA official who made the announcement. City Councilmember Jesse Moreno, whose District 2 will host the IBC, listed planned facility improvements including roofing repairs, climate control enhancements and infrastructure upgrades to ready the center for international media.
City Manager Kim Tolbert thanked city staff, the Dallas Sports Commission, OVG staff and partners for their work preparing the city to host the IBC. Organizers noted there will be no Q&A during the press conference; one-on-one interviews and Spanish interpretation headsets were offered after the announcement.
Organizers and city officials framed the designation as both a logistical undertaking and an opportunity to showcase Dallas to global audiences. The statement from FIFA and remarks by local officials concluded with an expression of readiness to host the media operations and a call to partners and residents to help welcome the international broadcast workforce.
