Sandy City staff on Tuesday outlined a package of online tools and outreach channels and urged residents to sign up for notifications and use digital services.
"As many of you know, 1 of our top priorities is communication," said Speaker 1, a city staff member, introducing the Citizen Connect portal at sandy.utah.gov/citizenconnect as a single place for residents to find services and ways to interact with the city.
City staff also urged residents to enroll in My Alerts to receive emergency and routine notifications. "Citizens can sign up at sandy.utah.gov/myalerts to receive notifications via email, text, and even robocall," said Speaker 2, who noted the system supports "over 60 language preferences" to reach non-English speakers.
Officials described website accessibility and customer-service improvements aimed at making online services easier to use. Speaker 3 said the site uses AudioEye to assist residents with vision impairment, and that web forms automatically save progress and are mobile friendly.
The city reminded residents of how to participate in local government: meetings of the Sandy City Council are held in person and virtually, "Join us Tuesday nights at 05:15 in the council chambers or you can participate from the comfort of your home," Speaker 4 said, adding that Zoom registration links appear on council agendas and that comments can be submitted to citizencomment@sandy.utah.gov or through e-comment links.
Other channels include department social accounts (police, fire, arts and recreation) and the Sandy City Serve mobile app, which Speaker 6 said registers a phone number and email and allows users to submit service requests to city staff. Speaker 7 described SandyNow, a 24/7 chatbot available on city websites to answer questions and direct users to information.
Speaker 8 invited residents to join the Citizen Connect survey panel to provide feedback on city services. On utilities, Speaker 9 summarized WaterWatch, a tool to track household water use, set consumption targets and receive alerts for abnormal usage, including leak detection.
City staff closed by reiterating the invitation to visit sandy.utah.gov/citizenconnect for links to all tools, registration pages and meeting information. No votes or formal council actions were recorded in this briefing.
