Multi‑month sewer project to close turn from eastbound 130 Fourth South onto southbound Bangerter starting Feb. 17

John LaFollette, communications manager for the City of Herriman, told listeners that Jordan Basin Improvement District (formerly South Valley Sewer) will begin a sewer improvement project that will affect traffic at the 130 Fourth South and Bangerter interchange beginning Feb. 17 and continuing into mid‑May.

LaFollette said the specific impact is the closure of the eastbound 130 Fourth South right turn onto southbound Bangerter for the project duration. "They'll start February 17, President's Day... and it's going to last until mid May," he said. He added that UDOT is keeping the northbound Bangerter to westbound 134 turn open but the east‑to‑south movement will be closed.

City staff said Jordan Basin's work is separate from UDOT's interchange project and that the closure is necessary for utility work. Officials advised drivers to use 126 South Herriman Boulevard where feasible and noted an official detour from 130 Fourth to Old Liberty Way in Riverton will be posted; LaFollette encouraged residents to watch city and Jordan Basin communications for details.

Mayor Palmer and the hosts acknowledged the closure will be disruptive to commuters and encouraged advance planning. "It's gonna hurt for a while and really the rest, even after this sewer project is done, it's gonna keep hurting through the end of the fall probably," one host said.

The city said it will share Jordan Basin Improvement District's traffic notices on the city's social media channels and website and encouraged residents to follow those channels for detour maps and timing updates.
