Marysville Lions Club seeks donations to place veterans recognition flags at Marysville Veteran Park

Joanne Tetlock of the Marysville Lions Club addressed the council during public comment on Oct. 27 to announce a veterans-recognition flag display at Marysville Veteran Park.
Tetlock said the Lions Club and Marysville Public Schools student council members are seeking community members who would like to honor a veteran by purchasing a $5 recognition card. Each card will list the veteran’s name and branch of service and will be attached to a flag displayed along the riverfront between the Junction Buoy and the kayak launch from Nov. 8 through Nov. 12. "It would be a fantastic sight to see that whole riverfront filled with flags recognizing those who sacrificed their time or lives for our freedom," Tetlock said.
Tetlock provided a local contact and asked interested residents to reach out to Lions Club members or student council members at Marysville Public Schools to arrange a recognition. No council action was required or taken on the request; it was presented as a community announcement during the citizens-to-be-heard portion of the meeting.
