PITTSBURGH — On Jan. 13, Council introduced a set of grant and contract resolutions that would fund traffic signal upgrades, bridge engineering and local recreation projects.
Councilwoman Salin Netro presented Bill 10 to accept a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Green Light Go grant in the amount of $1,394,029.06 for intersection upgrades at three city locations. The resolution requires a city match of $348,507.27, bringing the total project cost to $1,742,536.33.
Council also introduced Bill 14, a resolution to enter an agreement with CSX Transportation Inc. for preliminary engineering work on the Elizabeth Street Bridge rehabilitation, with a not-to-exceed amount of $19,580 to be reimbursable at 100%.
Councilman Mosley presented Bill 11 authorizing the city to seek gaming economic development tourism funds from Allegheny County, not to exceed $50,000, for Warrington Recreation Center.
None of these measures were adopted at the meeting; they were introduced as papers and will proceed through committee review and a public hearing process.
