Surry County EDA approves minutes and treasurer's report, unanimously elects Doretha Pierce as secretary

The Surry County Economic Development Authority on Oct. 23 unanimously approved its agenda, accepted minutes from May 29 and the June 16 work session, and voted to accept the treasurer's report.
Treasurer Joyce Henderson reviewed account figures during a four-month report. She told the board that "as of April ... we reported a $144,245.81 in our account" and later noted "as of September, before any deductions, we had a $144,275.91." She also remarked on deductions and an additional balance figure in the transcript that was unclear; the board recorded no outstanding checks. The treasurer's report was accepted by unanimous roll-call vote.
The board then nominated and elected Doretha Pierce as EDA board secretary. The chair called for a motion, the motion was seconded, and the roll-call vote to elect Pierce was unanimous. Members welcomed Pierce and thanked staff for their assistance.
The meeting concluded after brief directors' comments; the chair moved to adjourn at about 7:07 p.m. The board scheduled a public work session for Nov. 10 at 5:00 p.m. as its next meeting.
