STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — The Stafford County Board of Supervisors read a proclamation on Sept. 1 recognizing National Disability Voter Registration Week and emphasizing accessible voting options for residents.
Chairman Diggs invited Deborah Lately, director of advocacy at the Disability Resource Center, and Anna Hash, the county's general registrar, to accept the proclamation. Lately said the declaration "sends a powerful message that every voice matters" and staff listed practical options available to voters with disabilities, including curbside voting and accessible ballot formats.
The board noted statewide participation in the REV UP Virginia initiative and local efforts to inform voters about accommodations and alternatives such as vote‑by‑mail.
What's next: County staff and the registrar will publicize available accommodations and outreach materials for voters with disabilities during the month singled out by the proclamation.
