Planning commission elects Drake as chair; Randall and Prince named vice chair and secretary
Summary
At its first meeting of the year, the Southampton County Planning Commission elected Mr. Drake chair, Mr. Randall vice chair and Mr. Prince secretary; all three votes were unanimous and brief remarks and expectations for the year followed.
At the opening of the meeting the commission opened nominations for chair, vice chair and secretary for 2026. Members nominated Mr. Drake for chair; the nomination was seconded and the commission approved Drake's election by voice vote. Mr. Drake thanked members and said he would rely on the commission and continue the group's tradition of hearing public concerns.
The commission then nominated and unanimously elected Mr. Randall as vice chairman for 2026 and Mr. Prince as secretary. Members congratulated the officers and noted that they look forward to working together in the coming year.
The votes were recorded by voice and by show of hands; no roll-call tally by name was recorded in the minutes for these officer elections. The newly elected officers and staff then proceeded with the rest of the agenda.
