HANOVER — During public comment at the Hanover Borough Council reorganizational meeting, resident Robert Holt urged the council to standardize committee meeting times and locations so residents from every ward can attend and to ensure committee appointments represent all wards.
Holt told the council that staggered or inconsistent meeting times and locations have prevented members of the public — and at times council members — from attending committee meetings, describing the pattern as a “hodgepodge” that sometimes locks people out or leaves them unaware of start times.
Holt also raised a financial concern, saying the borough will be repaying roughly $10 million over 20 years for a building bond and asking the council to explain that obligation to taxpayers. He asked the council to ensure front-door access and safer, better-lit entry for residents attending meetings.
The council did not take action on the requests during the reorganizational meeting; the comments were entered during the public-comment period and the council moved on to reorganization business.
