Oklahoma House honors 94-year-old Navy veteran, hears festival and student introductions before adjourning

The Oklahoma House of Representatives convened Monday for a brief floor session that opened with an invocation and included multiple ceremonial recognitions before the chamber adjourned to reconvene Feb. 16, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
Representative Jim Shaw introduced Edward Marion Green of Chandler as the House’s veteran of the week, saying, “At 94 years young, Mister Green is in remarkable shape and continues to represent the very best of our greatest generation.” Clerk-read citation text noted Green’s Navy service from 1951 to 1955 aboard the USS Watts as a chaplain’s assistant and described his community work, ministry and role founding the nonprofit Youth Environmental Helpers.
Later, Representative Culver invited Oklahomans to the Red Fern Festival in Tahlequah “the weekend of April,” describing the event as spanning seven blocks with “over a 150 crafts, vendors,” live music, kid activities and a duck race. Culver introduced members of the festival court on the House floor, including Miss Redfern Ella Walls and Mister Redfern Antonio Washington.
Representative Duell introduced Dr. Sherry Fleming, a clinical psychologist and higher-education program architect who was granted full privileges of the House. Representative May introduced Alyssa Jones of Broken Arrow as nurse of the day and highlighted her work in rural health care.
Representative Hill and other members introduced the week’s pages and visiting students from across Oklahoma, naming students’ hometowns, achievements and college plans.
Pursuant to a list distributed by the majority floor leader’s office, the clerk announced reassignment of measures. The majority floor leader then moved that, when the clerk’s desk was clear, “the House stand adjourn until Tuesday, 02/16/2026 at 09:30AM.” The motion was carried and the House adjourned.
No policy debates or committee votes were recorded on the floor during the session; committee meetings and other legislative business will proceed on their published schedules.
