Board honors students and educators, appoints HR and facilities leaders and accepts 2025 single audit

The St. Vrain Valley School District Board of Education used a large portion of the meeting to recognize student athletic achievements and educator awards, introduce new district leaders and approve routine business items.
The board heard recognitions for Mead High School’s boys golf state champions, Niwot High’s back‑to‑back cross country state and national champions, Niwot gymnastics state champions, and individual student achievements. Coach Mike Ward and several student athletes addressed the board about the season and their plans.
The board also recognized Chris Chow of Longmont High School for a Congressional Service Award and Toni Jo Nicolai, principal of New Meridian High School, as Colorado’s 2026 High School Principal of the Year. Chris Chow was described as the co‑coordinator of the Medical and Bioscience Academy and leader of the SMART Team. Toni Jo’s recognition included citations for raising her school’s on‑time graduation rate and reducing dropout rates.
The board welcomed two district leadership appointments. Amanda introduced Dr. Russ Fox as the district’s incoming executive director of human resources (effective July 1); Dr. Fox spoke about his St. Vrain ties and leadership background. Amanda also introduced Kelly Kinsman as the executive director of building services; Kinsman summarized plans to unite environmental health, sustainability and custodial operations under one umbrella.
On routine business, the board approved the consent agenda by roll call. Finance staff presented the 2025 single audit (federal portion) and reported there were no findings or questioned costs; the board voted to accept the audit.
Board members closed with reports and recognized a board member’s reelection to the Colorado Association of School Boards Board of Directors. Student advisory council member Tammy Voe offered closing remarks about appreciation for district staff and programs.
