Erie council passes stop-sign installations, $742,429 ARP appropriation and rezoning in unanimous votes

Traffic safety: The council passed official ordinance 1-20-26 (Council file 16 5 79), amending the traffic code to install stop signs at six intersections: (1) West 27th Street at Emerson (stop on West 27th); (2) West 27th Street at Washington (stop on West 27th); (3) Maple Leaf Drive at Pebble Drive (stop at Pebble Drive); (4) Cold Spring Drive at Washington Avenue (stop at Cold Spring Drive); (5) Cold Spring Drive at Melrose Avenue (stop at Cold Spring Drive); and (6) West 28th Street at Melrose Avenue (stop at West 28th). The ordinance was sponsored by Councilmember Titus and seconded by Councilmember Flores and passed by a 7-0 vote.
Budget appropriation: The council approved official ordinance 2-20-26 (Council file 16 5 81), an appropriation of $742,429 from unappropriated and unanticipated City of Erie ARP fund interest to be used for the capital improvement fund. Councilmember Flores sponsored the bill and Councilmember Titus seconded; the measure passed 7-0.
Zoning change: The council also adopted official ordinance 3-20-26 (Council file 16 5 82), an amendment to the zoning ordinance (official ordinance 80-25) to rezone a parcel on Hillcrest Avenue (Tax ID 185302303) from R-1 to C-2 to match the adjacent property at 4125 Peach Street. The rezoning was sponsored by Councilmember Flores and seconded by Councilmember Brzezinski and approved unanimously.
Administrative notes: The clerk announced one first-reading item had been withdrawn at the solicitor's request; the council moved the balance of the agenda without separations. The session included a short executive session for personnel matters prior to the ordinance votes.
All three final-passage ordinances were recorded as unanimous (7-0) votes of members Brzezinski, Flores, Horton, Pohl, Shoff, Troop, and Titus.
