Erie Cemetery nomination recommended by planning commission, sent to city council

Historic preservation staff reported on Jan. 5 that the Erie Cemetery nomination advanced from the planning commission, which voted unanimously to recommend listing the site on the City of Erie register of historic places.
The planner said the nomination has been forwarded to city council; a public hearing will be scheduled on council’s agenda when time allows, after which council will consider a formal vote on the nomination. “So at this point, it has now been sent to council,” the planner said, adding the nomination is “working its way through the system.”
No vote or action on the cemetery nomination was taken by the Historic Review Commission at the Jan. 5 meeting; staff will monitor the scheduling of the council public hearing and report back on the council vote when it occurs.
