The Village of Germantown postponed a decision on an intergovernmental agreement with Washington County that would provide a $750,000 forgivable loan to Flamingo Marine. President Soderbergh said the packet materials were extensive and several key staff—our finance director and village administrator—were not present, so he recommended tabling the item to allow fuller review.
Multiple trustees supported the postponement. Trustee Jan Miller moved to delay the item until the next board meeting when the administrator, finance director and possibly Washington County Economic Development representatives could be present; the motion carried by voice vote. Trustee Kutz and other residents had earlier expressed concern about the speed of the process and asked for more detail on the 'forgivable' terms, the source of TID funds and contingency if the loan is not approved.
President Soderbergh said he was inclined to support Flamingo Marine in principle and noted the company’s presence could accelerate closing of TID No. 8, but he agreed the finance director should present the fiscal ramifications before trustees act.
Next steps: Trustees requested the village staff and Washington County representatives appear at the next meeting with detailed financial and contractual terms before the board votes.
