Livermore honors more than 1,100 'super readers' at annual summer program ceremony

Assistant Library Director Nathan Bromley led the Livermore Public Library’s summer reading awards ceremony, presenting "super reader" recognitions to dozens of children and thanking community sponsors.
Bromley opened the presentation with program results: "Over 5,600 residents participated in our summer learning program this year. 1,158 of the children who participated completed the full program to become super readers. As a community, we read over 5,400,000 minutes this summer," he said.
Bromley and library staff individually called readers to the stage and handed out recognition cards. Organizers acknowledged a long list of local sponsors and partners whose donations made the program possible, naming LARPD, East Bay Regional Parks, Quest Science Center, Papa Murphy's Take and Bake Pizza, Chick fil A, In N Out Burger, Mitchie's Frozen Yogurt, Livermore Valley Arts, Bub's Bagels and Coffee, Lorde's Ice Cream, Financial Beginnings, Open Heart Kitchen and the Friends of the Livermore Public Library.
The ceremony concluded with thanks to volunteers and an invitation for participants to return next summer. The presentation immediately preceded the Livermore City Council’s regular meeting.
