Board closes out CDBG-funded childcare feasibility study, authorizes chair to sign closeout
Summary

The board held a public hearing on closing out a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) agreement that funded the county’s childcare feasibility study and unanimously approved the closeout and chair signature.
Will Fassett, community design and development planner, explained that CDBG requires a public hearing before formal closeout and that the grant funded a county-contracted feasibility study. Ben Goger, senior planner, thanked staff and partners who supported the study’s completion and described the interdepartmental management of the grant and contracts.
During public comment, the planning department and members of the public commented on the study’s recommendations and process. Supervisor Manatre moved to approve the grant closeout and authorize the chair to sign the documents; Supervisor Toso seconded. The motion passed 5-0 and the public hearing was closed.
The board’s action finalized the administrative closeout required by CDBG program rules and does not itself commit additional funding; staff noted that several study recommendations relate to education, workforce coordination and options to support childcare providers.
