Poe also questioned whether creating another federal bureaucracy and adding spending was the right approach, and cited historical Forest Service staffing and budget figures as context for his caution.
Board members discussed the merits and risks of the legislation. Several supervisors said parts of the bill could streamline interagency response and reduce litigation timelines; others expressed concern about expanding bureaucracy. Supervisor Manatre moved to ratify the letter of support; Supervisor Toso seconded. The board voted with four in favor and one abstention: Supervisor Poe recorded an abstention. The chair announced the motion passed.
