Carpinteria council adopts resolution marking 60th anniversary; Avocado Festival poster unveiled

Carpinteria—City Council on Thursday adopted Resolution No. 6419 congratulating the people of Carpinteria on 60 years of incorporation and outlined a week of anniversary events, including a State of the City address at Veterans Memorial Hall.
The council unanimously approved the resolution after brief public comment and a motion to adopt the measure. The recitals note Carpinteria was incorporated on Sept. 28, 1965, and said the community will commemorate its sixtieth anniversary with festivities beginning Sept. 22 and a State of the City event on Sept. 29.
Before the vote, the council recognized the California Avocado Festival and unveiled the festival—poster. Artist Scott Anderson, who developed the poster, thanked the council for the honor: "I wasn't told what to say, so just like to thank everybody for this honor and privilege." Council members and the mayor thanked festival organizers and city staff for coordinating celebratory programming.
City Manager Michael Ramirez highlighted staff and volunteer contributions to anniversary planning and invited the public to a short reception with cake and coffee.
The resolution and the city————anniversary programming acknowledge six decades of local government and volunteer stewardship in Carpinteria. The council recessed for a 20-minute break to allow the community to gather before returning to the regular agenda.
