The committee recommended that the full board include a proposal to study the effects of secondary integrated‑math models on postsecondary readiness and workforce outcomes in the Utah Data Research Center (UDRC) annual research agenda.
Aaron Brough, director of data and statistics, explained the scope: a cross‑agency research project to compare integrated mathematics models in secondary grades 1–3, evaluate implementation across states, and assess postsecondary and workforce readiness metrics. He said UDRC research typically takes about eight months and would provide empirical evidence for future policy discussions. Vice Chair Cole Kelly moved that the committee recommend board approval of the integrated mathematics research proposal; the motion passed unanimously.
What happens next: the recommendation will be sent to the full board for approval of the UDRC annual research agenda; the UDRC would then scope and schedule the study if included.
