Council to place several board nominees on tonight’s consent agenda after brief introductions

Several nominees introduced themselves at the Nov. 18 council work session and answered brief questions before the council said it would place their names on the consent agenda for the formal meeting that evening.
Austin Whitehead, who said he lives in the Liberty Wells neighborhood (District 5) and is an urban planning master’s student at the University of Utah, introduced himself for a parks/public‑lands appointment. Janice Kimball, who said she has worked with Housing Connect and lives in District 5, introduced herself for a library‑board appointment. Tom Merrill described long experience as a downtown resident and said his day job is in health‑care policy. Christian Chavez said he was born and raised on the West Side (Rose Park), currently lives in District 4 and recently became a first‑time father.
Council members asked light, introductory questions in each case and staff confirmed the council will place all four nominees on the consent agenda at the formal 7:00 PM meeting for a vote.
What’s next: nominees’ names will appear on the formal meeting consent slate; the council did not take votes during the work session.
