"This facility was 20 years old and was in need of some repairs and some updates to better accommodate our public," Stewart said. "We increased our capacity from 3 scales to 5 scales." She specified the new configuration is three inbound scales and two outbound scales.
The upgrades aimed to reduce queuing and improve worker and public safety. "We've drastically improved waiting time at scales," Stewart said, and added that the project included new walkways and "better communication with the scale house staff." Those operational changes are intended to speed throughput and reduce hazards for drivers and employees.
