Herriman officials said a major road reconstruction project on Anthem Park Boulevard will begin Monday and require hard closures for several weeks, affecting traffic and nearby businesses. "That's between Daybreak Parkway and 126 South," communications manager John LaFollette said, and officials warned the closure will cause significant detours in that heavily traveled corridor.
LaFollette explained the work is a full-depth reclamation: "they'll have a big machine that mills off the pavement, removes it... pulverize the road base, break it up a bunch, apply a cement material to it to basically harden it up and firm it up so it doesn't shift over time," after which crews will repave and restripe the road. He also said the millings "will be used on a trail parking lot later."
Officials named several businesses that may be affected, including JCW's, Twisted Sugar, Q Veil Salon and a liquor store, and urged residents to patronize those local businesses while the work proceeds. The hosts said the project's timing is difficult but necessary: "Every year we put that off, it's just going to get worse," one host said, noting the need to address a failing road base.
LaFollette advised drivers to expect noise, dust and multiweek traffic impacts and to plan alternate routes while the contractor completes full-depth repairs.
