Utah Transit Authority launched a new bus line that city officials described on the April 15 Herrimanology podcast as the first full‑time bus route through Herriman. John LaFollette, Herriman communications manager, announced the service and encouraged residents to check schedules at rideuta.com.
Mayor Palmer framed the service as an initial, demonstrative step. "This is still first step to prove ridership, so we need people to get on the bus, show that we're gonna have ridership out here so then we can take the next steps in the transit hierarchy," he said. He added that fixed‑rail investments would be considerably more expensive and depend on external funding decisions.
LaFollette also noted a temporary office access issue to rideuta.com that has since been resolved after an internal IT change, and he urged listeners to use RideUTA for route and schedule details. City staff said showing consistent rider numbers will help make the local case for additional transit options.
No formal timeline or commitment to a fixed‑rail project was announced; officials described the bus route as a step to demonstrate demand and said any future rail would require significantly greater funding and approvals.
