The California Housing Finance Agency on Thursday approved Resolution 25‑26 to appoint Catherine Klein McFadden as the agency’s director of multifamily programs after a nationwide executive search and closed‑session interviews.
Rebecca Franklin, who presented the recommendation to the board, said the agency reengaged an executive search firm, held panel interviews and brought one finalist to a closed‑session in‑person interview. “I’m here today to present a recommendation to appoint Catherine Klein McFadden as CalHFA's director of multifamily programs,” Franklin said.
Chair Cervantes thanked staff for what he described as “a very thorough and rigorous process” and said he participated in one of the interviews. Doctor White moved the motion to approve and Director Cabildo seconded. The board approved the resolution by roll call; the clerk recorded affirmative votes from Miss Cabildo, Miss Kurgan, Chair Cervantes, Mister Hardiman, Mister Henning, Mister Russell, Secretary Sen, Mister Olmstead, Doctor White and Mister Williams.
Catherine Klein McFadden thanked the board following the vote. The appointment fills a leadership post that staff described as critical for CalHFA’s multifamily lending and program operations as the agency pursues construction and preservation of affordable housing.
The board discussed compensation and the duty statement, which are attached to the resolution and provide room for growth during McFadden’s expected tenure.
The board moved to the next agenda item after the appointment vote.
