At its June 23 meeting the Village of Lincoln Heights council held a first reading of Resolution 2025‑R‑65 (the village’s 2026 tax budget) and set the required public hearing for July 14 at 7:15 a.m. to meet the charter deadline. Solicitor/administrator "Mister Desai" explained the two-step process for tax budgets, noting the packet includes Schedule A (a list of funds expected from property taxes) and that the figures will go to the Hamilton County budget commission for certification.
Council discussed timing and agreed Mister Key should present the documents to the economic development committee on July 7 so councilmembers can review them before the July 14 public hearing. The clerk read R‑65 by title as a first reading to preserve the charter filing timeline.
Separately, Council adopted Resolution 2025‑R‑64 authorizing a transfer from special revenue fund 2064 to the general fund; roll call recorded six aye votes and the motion passed. Council also amended the agenda to add and then approve Resolution 2025‑R‑66 authorizing the sale of 945 Simmons; after suspension of rules the sale resolution and its emergency clause passed on roll call (six aye votes).
Council later moved into executive session to discuss employment of a public official and returned to open session at 9:17 p.m. At miscellaneous business, Councilwoman Laverne Mitchell moved and the council approved seeking sponsorships (estimated around $2,000) for an upcoming Shakespeare in the Park event.
What’s next: R‑65 will be presented at the July 7 economic development committee and go to the July 14 public hearing; R‑64 and R‑66 will be implemented per finance and legal procedures.
