Manager Gaines Brown told the Committee of the Whole that three bids were opened for the Memorial Field concession-stand project and the low bid was "about $452,000," exceeding the amount the village had budgeted.
Brown said Hamilton County senior program manager April Galelli confirmed the county can provide additional gap funding of about "$1,110,200," which would leave roughly $294,000 for the village to cover. Brown said the village will produce the revised blueprint and will explore sponsorship or corporate grant opportunities to close the remaining gap.
Council members asked for a copy of the revised concession plans and sought clarification on prior communications about estimated costs. Brown said material and supply cost increases following the COVID pandemic and related tariffs contributed to higher bids and that he would deliver the requested documents.
No final appropriation vote was recorded at the Committee of the Whole; R-86 was presented as a resolution accepting county funds and authorizing the village manager to execute the necessary agreement, with next steps to return to council with the blueprint and funding details.
