Lenoir County board approves E‑Rate application, calendar change, policy updates and personnel action

At its Feb. 9, 2026, meeting the Lenoir County Public Schools board moved from presentations into the action portion of the agenda and approved several district business items, including an E‑Rate application, an academic calendar change, policy revisions and a personnel report following closed session.

Frank Middle School band/choir to Kings Dominion for a music festival), approved maintenance department surplus items with proceeds to be returned to maintenance, and after a closed‑session consultation under NC law approved the monthly personnel report.

Nominations and closed session: The board accepted nominations for the North Carolina School Boards Association statewide legislative affairs committee representative, discussed the process for the appointment and later adjourned into closed session under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143‑318.11 to consult with counsel and discuss initial employment matters; the motion to enter closed session carried 6–1. After closed session the board approved the monthly personnel report and adjourned the meeting.
