The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GoBiz) used a webinar to brief local and regional partners on its Business Ready Sites program and the how-to steps for submitting candidate parcels.
Jolia Jackson, regional engagement and development manager on GoBiz’s Regional Economic Development Initiatives team, said the program aims to highlight two to four prime sites per economic region that best align with California Jobs First priorities such as headquarters, research and development and advanced manufacturing. Jackson reminded participants that eligible submitters include local governments, joint power authorities, utility or community service districts and economic development organizations.
Jackson described a site submission checklist and the regional data tool used for account requests. She cautioned that the site request auto-reply does not mean an account is active; GoBiz staff will manually review eligibility and activate accounts. The webinar host said GoBiz provides free access to the regional data tool, a Business Ready Sites program guide, a submission checklist and recurring office hours through February to help applicants prepare competitive submissions.
She encouraged regional collaboration before submitting sites, urged participants to use the checklist and offered one-on-one technical assistance for account and submission support. GoBiz also plans to share recordings and materials in the webinar chat and to follow up with attendees who require additional help.
