Vandalia council approves storage-area network upgrade, authorizes up to $210,000

The Vandalia City Council on Feb. 16 approved Resolution 26-R-13 authorizing the purchase and installation of a storage area network (SAN) solution from SHI International Corp through the AMNA Partners IT Solutions cooperative purchasing contract, with total project costs not to exceed $210,000.

Mr. Authausen told the council that IT manager Davey recommended waiving formal bidding and entering the cooperative contract to replace aging equipment and support ongoing city operations as part of the city97s established five-year replacement cycle. The presentation listed an estimated equipment cost of $196,735.30 with the project budgeted at $210,000 and remaining funds earmarked for related installation and infrastructure expenses.

Vice Mayor Follett moved to approve the resolution and Councilwoman Duchin seconded. The council conducted a roll call vote; Council members Ford, Hathaway, Bradford, Abelotis Weaver, Dugan, Vice Mayor Follett and Mayor Herbst all voted yes and the motion passed 7-0.

Council materials and the staff recommendation said the upgrade will replace aging systems and is intended to maintain continuity of city services. No public comment or opposition to the procurement was recorded during the meeting.

The resolution authorizes the city manager to execute the purchase pursuant to the cooperative contract. The council did not amend the motion; the approval completes the procurement authorization.
