House adopts resolution honoring Washington National Guard

The Washington State House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 4675 on a voice vote to express “sincere thanks and appreciation” to the Washington National Guard for its service to the state.
Representative Donaghy, the member from the 44th District, moved adoption of the resolution. In remarks preceding the vote, Representative Donahue said, “It takes a unique kind of person to stand up and serve,” and praised Guard members for disaster response and community service.
The resolution text, read by the clerk, notes that “more than 8,000 men and women of the Washington National Guard continue to serve” the state, highlights recent flood response operations and search-and-rescue missions, and recognizes Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s role in training and readiness. It directs that copies be transmitted to the adjutant general and the governor.
After the resolution was adopted, the speaker recognized Major General Gent Welsh, the adjutant general, and Command Chief Master Sergeant Alan Lawson, the Guard’s senior enlisted leader, and asked members to stand and acknowledge Guard personnel seated in the galleries. The speaker also recognized guests from the Nez Perce Tribe.
The House moved on with its agenda after the ceremony.
