The Aransas Pass City Council approved an ordinance granting a five-year conditional use permit to allow cosmetic tattooing for scar and skin camouflage at 442 South Commercial (City of Aransas Pass Townsite Block 511, Lot 22).
Planning staff described the applicant’s request as an expansion of existing permanent-makeup services to include techniques for camouflaging scars, burns and post-surgical markings such as mastectomy areola restoration. The planning commission had recommended a five-year conditional use permit, the maximum recommended length, and no members of the public opposed the request during the hearing.
Councilmembers noted the business intends to perform purely cosmetic procedures and not traditional decorative tattoos. "They're not asking to do any tribals on anybody," a planning representative said. After brief discussion, the council voted to approve the ordinance granting the conditional use permit for five years.
