Wichita Mayor (Speaker 1) said the city manager search has advanced and that the Wichita City Council will hold a special session at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10 to meet in executive session with the citizen-led city manager search committee and the search firm.
The mayor said the committee expects to have candidates narrowed by then and will meet with the council to provide recommendations; no council action is expected at that special session. He said finalists will be notified privately and that the city will hold a 4:30 p.m. press conference on Nov. 10 to announce their names.
Public opportunities to meet candidates and dates for on-site interviews will be posted on wichita.gov/managersearch and the city homepage when finalized, the mayor said. He noted there were more than 80 applicants for the position and that the committee will narrow the field before on-site interviews are scheduled.
