The captain also reminded residents to change smoke-alarm batteries when clocks move back for daylight saving time.
A Wichita Police Department representative (Speaker 5) asked drivers to slow down in residential neighborhoods, eliminate distractions such as cell phones, and avoid driving under the influence. The police spokesperson said the department will post specifics on social media and announced temporary road closures in College Hill, listing closures on 3rd, 2nd and 1st Streets between Roosevelt and Pressway and additional closures between Douglas and Central on streets including Quintin, Bluff, Fountain, Broadview and Belmont.
Officials reminded residents that public-safety personnel and multi-agency partners will monitor some areas to protect trick-or-treaters and encouraged attendees to plan alternative routes where closures will be in effect.
