The Wichita City Council recognized City Manager Robert (Bob) Layton on Dec. 16 as he prepares to retire. Council read a resolution commending Layton’s 16‑year tenure as city manager and 46 years in public service across several jurisdictions. Speakers highlighted accomplishments credited to his leadership: the Wichita management fellowship, improved budget and CIP processes, Standard & Poor's triple‑A bond rating improvement, and major infrastructure projects including Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport improvements, Equity Bank Park, the Advanced Learning Library and transit investments.
