Mayor highlights Snowglow, free microchip Mondays and pothole reporting

Mayor Mary Lou said the service will be "first come, first serve to 50 pets each Monday" and that owners must provide photo ID, address, phone number and email to receive the free microchip. She noted more than 7,000 pets enter Wichita Animal Services annually because owners cannot be identified, and that a microchip links a unique number to owner contact information so pets can be reunited.
Snowglow event: Kay Sears, assistant recreation supervisor for Wichita Park and Recreation, said Snowglow will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Mid-America All-Indian Museum and will feature glow-in-the-dark sledding on real snow provided by Snow Bros Snowmakers, a live DJ, light displays, fire pits, food trucks and complimentary Wichita Transit shuttle service from Riverside Tennis Center and Exploration Place. "Tickets for Snowglow are at wichita.gov/snowglow," Sears said. She added participants must bring their own sleds and metal sleds are not allowed.
Streets and potholes: The mayor reminded residents that potholes commonly appear after snow and ice events and urged them to report locations through the City of Wichita app so staff can locate and fill potholes within 24 to 48 hours. She also warned motorists that the Murdoch and Market intersection downtown will undergo brick crosswalk repairs for several weeks.
