Jamelle Holoparik with Visit Wichita used the mayor's briefing to promote upcoming weekend and spring events around the city, calling out activities aimed at couples, families and visitors.
Holoparik described Paint-A-Keeper at the Mid-America All Indian Museum, a combined art class and cultural experience led by artist Michelle Sutton (Cherokee) on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., an event suitable for couples or solo participants. She also promoted a Sweetheart pickleball tournament that starts at 10 a.m., and noted the band Hairball will perform at Heartland Credit Union Arena on Saturday with a setlist that evokes KISS, Queen and Van Halen.
"I love my job because I get to talk about all the awesome things we have going on in our city," Holoparik said, encouraging residents to check local restaurants, breweries and coffee shops for Valentine's Day specials.
Holoparik closed by encouraging residents to take advantage of spring activities and the city's tourism offerings; the Visit Wichita team is coordinating promotional outreach for seasonal events.
