Council adopts Wellington’s 10-year water supply facilities work plan

The Village Council unanimously approved Ordinance 2026-01 to adopt Wellington’s Water Supply Facilities 10-Year Work Plan and to amend the comprehensive plan to incorporate the work plan by reference, as required by Florida Statutes Chapter 373.
Planner Katie DeCosmo presented the work plan, which includes population and water-demand projections through 2045, a review of supply options, and updates to the public facilities and capital improvement elements. Staff said the South Florida Water Management District adopted the Lower East Coast water supply plan on Sept. 12, 2024; the local work plan aligns Wellington’s documents with that regional plan.
No members of the public spoke on the item during the public hearing. Council approved the ordinance 5-0.
