Board amends Tazewell enterprise‑zone boundaries after owner requests; adopts amendment as revised

After identifying parcel numbers, the board removed a set of parcels (Exhibit A), added back a Dial Rock parcel (Exhibit B), and adopted the boundary amendment as amended.
The Board of Supervisors opened a public hearing Oct. 7 to consider amendment and reenactment of the Virginia Enterprise Zone in Tazewell County. Staff and economic development representatives reviewed the proposed boundary changes and reported several property owners had submitted letters requesting exclusion or inclusion.
Staff said the county has sufficient land in the enterprise zone to accommodate owners who want to remain in the zone and can remove properties whose owners asked to be excluded. Board members deferred a vote until parcel numbers and addresses were confirmed; once identified they moved to remove the additional properties identified in Exhibit A (numbers 1,2,4–18,21 and 22) and to add back a parcel requested by Dial Rock Enterprises, Inc. as shown in Exhibit B. The board then voted to adopt the amendment as amended.
Economic development staff said they would correct the enterprise zone map to reflect the board’s changes and confirmed staff and the engineering department have been working to accommodate last‑minute adjustments from town officials and property owners.
